OW! [Fuck I'm a Metal Mouth]
Well, today I got my braces and my mouth hurts really badly. Even worse than that the braces look so BAD on me. It's totally gross. I look like that girl from Finding Nemo who kills all of the fish (well, maybe that's an exaggeration, but whatever). I can barely eat food...it takes forever (how do people deal with things?).

Speaking a person who had to deal with braces/retainers/pallete expanders for four years and who just got graced with them off this year...I think I can shed some insight.
I know it sucks now, and I'm sure that your parents have said it enough, but it will get better. The pain will subside within a few days.
You'll get used to the braces enough so that you won't even know they're there...and though it's a surpise to look at, at first, I'm sure they don't look that bad.
Plus, think of the outcome! Braces stink, but once they're off, it's a big confidence boost.
As far as the eating thing goes, well, even though they tell you not to eat some stuff...you are the best judge of that if you know what I'm saying...=)
